Calendar of treatments for comprehensive control of pests and diseases in the metropolitan parks
The guidelines for proper management of pests in the metropolitan parks are, in order of priority: to maintain plants that are most resistant to pests or diseases, to minimise preventive treatment and undertake curative treatments if necessary, to introduce biological controls and to incorporate endotherapy.

Recommendations
Basic recommendations for citizens
- Observe the signs and follow the workers' directions.
- Do not access the treatment area while the phytosanitary actions are being implemented.
- In the parks, all children must be under adult supervision.
Special recommendations during phytosanitary treatments
- Keep children, pregnant women, elderly people and/or people with chronic diseases away from areas under treatment.
- Keep doors and windows closed in near buildings and vehicles.
- Avoid hanging up your laundry if the treatment zone is close.
- Practice urban sport activities (such as running, cycling…) in alternative areas.

Recomanacions per a situacions especials durant els tractaments fitosanitaris
- Evitar la proximitat d'infants, dones embarassades, persones ancianes i/o amb malalties cròniques a zones en tractament.
- Mantenir tancades portes i finestres d'habitatges o edificis i de vehicles pròxims.
- Evitar estendre roba a l'exterior si l'àmbit en tractament és molt proper.
- Fer activitats esportives urbanes (com córrer, anar en bici...) en zones alternatives.

Recomanacions bàsiques per a la ciutadania
- Respectar els cartells i seguir les indicacions dels operaris.
- No accedir a l'àmbit de tractament mentre tinguin lloc les actuacions fitosanitàries.
- En els parcs, els infants han d'estar acompanyats i supervisats per persones adultes.

Phytosanitary management
One of the aims of the AMB in its maintenance of the network of metropolitan parks is to engage in a sustainable and environmentally friendly management, carrying out initiatives to improve the parks' biodiversity and environmental quality.
To meet this overall objective, the maintenance of the parks must not be an interference or create environmental pollution, and a comprehensive pest and disease control programme has been put in place throughout the entire parks network in recent years. The guidelines for the proper management of pests, in order of priority, are:
- Careful maintenance work so that the vegetation is vigorous and more resistant to pests and disease.
- Constant evaluation of the tolerance threshold of the disease and the consequences for users, to minimise preventive treatments and perform curative treatment if necessary.
- The introduction of biological controls, by releasing insects that prey on the pest or are parasites on it, which help to control it as it develops under natural conditions.
- Use of localised treatments with endotherapy, a system that means the product can be injected directly into the plant and which prevents emissions of the product and inconvenience to users.

Legal information
AMB places signs indicating treatments according to the stipulations of the current regulations arising from Royal Decree 1311/2012, in accordance with Directive 2009/128/EC of the European Parliament.
The companies that carry out the treatments are registered in the Official Register of Pesticide Enterprises and Services, Decree 149/1997 of the Government of Catalonia (Official Journal of the Government of Catalonia 23/06/97), Order of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) of 24 February 1993 (Official State Bulletin 04/03/93) and the Official Register of Producers and Operators (ROPO), Royal Decree 1311/2012 of 14 September, whenever this is possible within the territorial area. Since the publication of Royal Decree 1311/2012, the management of these companies has had to be based on integrated pest control.
