Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona

In the framework of the institutional relations born during the European Metropolitan Authorities held last March in Barcelona, a delegation from Lillestrom-Akershus (Norway) paid a visit to the headquarters of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) on May, 7-8.

After the welcome and a short report on the metropolitan institutions, powers and financing, the visitors met some managers from the different technical services of the AMB,  such as public transport and mobility, urban and territorial planning as well as environmental protection, both for prevention and treatment of municipal waste as for management of the water cycle.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited some public spaces in the metropolitan area, where some projects are being implemented to transform and improve them. The visit was led by the Director of the Public Space Department.

The second day of the study visit the norwegian delegation could know the Smart Cities Strategy of the city council of Barcelona and of the AMB.
