It presents successful solutions in sustainable mobility for Mediterranean cities

Imatge d'una de les sessions online del projecte

The Handbook on Sustainable Mobility Solutions in the Mediterranean area is a collection of innovative tools and solutions that was drafted by the MOBILITAS project within the first phase of the Urban Transports Community. In an online session held on 28 September, MedCities brought together 30 representatives of 15 different local and regional governments from across the Mediterranean to discuss the challenges of sustainable mobility affecting the Mediterranean area and to present ‘The Handbook on Sustainable Mobility in the Mediteranean area' as a source of inspiration. MedCities' Secretary-General, Mr Josep Canals, opened the session by recalling the recently announced European new plans to reach a cut of 55 % in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and stressed the important role urban sustainable mobility must play in it.

The AMB collaborates in this initiative by providing solutions successfully implemented in terms of sustainable mobility, so that other cities in the region can replicate them in their territories based on the learning acquired through the experience of the AMB.

Seminars and peer-learning opportunities

The Urban Transports Community is now working on the transfer of the results included in the Handbook. The Community has launched the webinar series, "Implementing Sustainable Mobility Solutions in the Mediterranean", targeting mobility stakeholders and Southern European cities. Once a week, every Wednesday morning from October 7th until November 25th, the Community most effective tools and solutions will be examined in relation to some of the most strategic challenges to sustainable mobility in urban areas: big data and ICT for smart traffic management; soft mobility; shared mobility; mobility in tourist destinations; and different approaches in urban mobility planning. Implementers and experts will set the ground for knowledge exchange and discussion.

Seminar registration

These webinars also unveil an opportunity for enhanced peer-learning targeted to Mediterranean cities and mobility entities: "Sustainable Urban Transport Implementing Cities", that will be available starting on October 21. Successful candidates will benefit from the support of a dedicated mentor, who will facilitate the access to our Community resources, and of the real experience of our Community stakeholders.
