2021 | Metropolis Barcelona, Green and Digital
Under the title “Crossroads: Building the Resilient City”, the third edition of the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism (SBAU 2021), curated by architect Dominique Perrault, attempted to assert the importance of interaction and cross-fertilisation of expertise and approaches to respond to the complexities that shape the built environment, all seen through the lens of the timely issue of resiliency.
On this occasion, the AMB presented “Metropolis Barcelona, Green and Digital”, an exhibition that explored the future of the metropolitan area of Barcelona by posing a series of questions that raise awareness and stimulate dialogue. It introduced the concepts that underpin the AMB's strategies and projects for building a resilient, flexible, inclusive, green, and digital city of the future.
The exhibition was designed to be innovative and dynamic, featuring a special corner at the edge of the main exhibition. This corner was identified through slogans that drew visitors’ attention and became a door to a digital space. Outside, a graphic display presented the key concepts, while inside, under the mezzanine and facing the booth area, a short video was shown. Visitors could access two QR codes – one leading to digital content and the other to a chat where the institution could answer any questions generated by the exhibition.
Overall, “Metropolis Barcelona, Green and Digital” served as a gateway to the strategic projects that the AMB is currently implementing and planning for tomorrow. Within a framework of questions and concepts, the exhibition embodied the vision of a sustainable, technology-driven metropolis that prioritises inclusivity and environmental responsibility.
