Description
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the process for international protection of the population living in Syria, and to progress towards guaranteeing the rights of this population in a context in which the country is subject to armed conflict.
To achieve those objectives, basic emergency non-food items (blankets, mattresses, kitchen kits, lamps, etc.) have been distributed according to criteria of vulnerability and gender (single-parent families, age, health, etc.) and in accordance with international standards for the distribution of non-food items.
The project's beneficiaries are 2,000 people belonging to the most vulnerable families in the Aleppo mu??fa?a (Governorate), in the districts of As-Safira, Azaz, Al-Bab, Manbij and Jabal Sem'an, including displaced people and returnees. The project aims to guarantee and defend basic human rights, such as the right to life, protection, health and well-being, as well as international humanitarian law. In the design and implementation of the distributions, the plan has been for mothers, and particularly those in single-parent families, to play a leading role, promoting empowerment and equality between women and men, and to ensure a more equitable distribution that more adequately meets the beneficiaries' needs.
