This Plan is the main tool for political guidance and strategic planning of the AMB's international cooperation work

The Metropolitan Council approved the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) Master Plan for Cooperation for the period 2017-2019 at its meeting on 25 July.

This document, which is the main tool for political guidance and strategic planning of the AMB's international cooperation work, defines the vision, mission, values and broad-based principles that govern the cooperation work done by the AMB. It also highlights the priorities of this public policy, based on strategic, sectoral and implementation targets for the next three years.

This new Master Plan for International Cooperation, which will soon come into force on the stipulated dates, is structured according to a twofold objective: to contribute to guaranteeing the rights of people, and environmental sustainability based on metropolitan action which incorporates the various broad-based themes and with the clear intention of being highly operative, to provide specific responses in the situations to which the AMB makes a commitment.

There is also a clear commitment to working in the Mediterranean, offering refuge, introducing cooperation on governance in metropolitan areas, and enhancing direct and coordinated cooperation.
