Sant Cugat, brought in by MedCities, presents its energy saving actions in Italy

Conferència a Sicília

On the 16th and 17th of May, technicians from the Municipality of Sant Cugat participated in the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) conference organised by the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment in Sicily (Italy).

On the first day, the MedCities network (Of which the AMB currently holds the secretary position) in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme's Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP MAP), organised a roundtable on planning and managing sustainable Mediterranean cities. Participating in the discussion, in addition to Sant Cugat, were the Municipality of Sousse (Tunisia), represented by the deputy mayor, Ms. Kawther Medoui and the Agency for sustainable Mediterranean cities and territories (AVITEM), with its headquarters in Marseille.

During this session, Gerard Riba and Marta Oliver, Technician from the Municipality of Sant Cugat, presented the different innovative solutions they have applied in the city over the last few years in the areas of public lighting, circular economy, mobility and energy efficiency in public buildings. The different examples they gave, which were of notable interest to those in attendance, will be added to the MedUrbanTools platform which collects best practices and innovative tools for urban management in the Mediterranean, promoted by MedCities in collaboration with other regional sustainable urban development organisations.
