International debate about the role of infrastructures and their financing

Metropolitan infrastructures

Last 4th and 5th March, Barcelona welcomed a high level seminar about the role of large infrastructures, their financing and the impact they have on their surroundings. Large infrastructures can be grouped in key categories like transport, water, energy, buildings and the digital sector.

On the first day, the inaugural conference included the participation of Christiana Figueres, former Executive Secretary of the UN Climate Change Authority, who was responsible for negotiating on behalf of this institution in the 2015 Paris Agreement Coop 21.

In the afternoon and the following morning, different debates were held with the participation of state representatives, international organizations, local and regional governments, the financial sector and civil society leaders.

The AMB participated in this forum on account of the role it plays in the management of large infrastructures, for example in the maintenance of the Barcelona Ring Roads, the recently approved 2030 Climate Plan and several sustainability programmes.

This conference was organised by the Climate Infrastructure Partnership CLIP, a non-profit organisation headquartered in Barcelona that works in the area of sustainability in infrastructures and the impact of international agreements (such as the Paris Agreement, Sustainable Development Objectives, etc.) on them.
