Description

Low emission zones (LEZs) significantly reduce accidents, pollution, and other externalities resulting from urban traffic. The third edition of the course aims to provide attendees with the technical knowledge needed to deploy a LEZ and scale the concept internationally.
The main purpose of the LOWeZONE project is to develop a practical course aimed to qualify professionals with knowledge needed to implement LEZs in municipalities across Spain and Portugal.

This project is linked to an initiative that was launched in 2021 and was also developed in 2022 with the objective to provide attendees with the technical knowledge necessary to deploy a low emissions zone in a Catalan municipality learnt from experience as well as existing technologies in this field.

The third edition is expected to be developed through 1 digital session and 2 face-to-face sessions with Catalan municipalities and also to expand it but also to reach Portugal.

This course will monitor the implementation of LEZs in the municipalities through online forms that will be filled in by city professionals to follow the procedure and see graphically the implementation of LEZs. These documents are intended to be open to the public and will help to create the LEZ City Twin Partners network.
