Beaches

The metropolitan beaches extend along the 42 km of metropolitan coastline. There are 42 beaches, with a combined length of 30 km and an area of more than 2,000,000 m2.

Each year they receive more than 11 million users, during increasingly extensive seasons. They provide numerous values, as they are spaces of nature and health (and climatic shelters on tropical nights, which are increasingly frequent).

In addition, they constitute areas of biodiversity that host protected species. In this sense, some beaches in Gavà, Viladecans and El Prat de Llobregat stand out, which are protected at a European level through the Natura 2000 network.
