Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona

On November 15th and 16th 2018 it was held in Barcelona the seminar "The place and role of cities in global governance". The seminar, organized by CIDOB and with the support of AMB, brought together prominent international think tanks, such as Brookings o Center for the Cities, which study cities.

During the seminar, the role of cities was exposed as a central link between global agendas and the everyday realities of their local implementation. One of the main objectives was identifying what challenges and opportunities the current geopolitical landscape represents for city governments in collaboration with other more traditional actors in international relations.

On the first day, two thematic panels were presented, followed by a round table. During the round table, each participant of the seminar was invited to expound a presentation about the research program of his institution about cities and metropolitan regions.

The purpose of this round table was to facilitate an exchange space about ongoing and upcoming research projects and potentially explore opportunities for future collaboration.

During the second day, various technical visits were carried out to different park and beaches metropolitan projects.
