35 cooperation projects receive funding

18 are related to education for the global community, 12 to international cooperation and 5 to local councils
December marked the end of the call for International Cooperation and Education for the Global Community grants and financial support following the submission of the documents justifying the International Cooperation and Education for the Global Community projects carried out by metropolitan councils and NGOs.
As part of this call, 35 projects were awarded a total of €500,000. Of these projects, 18 are related to education for the global community, 12 to international cooperation and 5 to metropolitan councils.
One important new feature of this call was the inclusion of a new line of grants for local councils interested working in coordinated fashion with the AMB's International Cooperation Service. With these projects, the applicant councils and the AMB's International Cooperation Service worked together to formulate, implement and monitor international cooperation projects. Specifically, in this call, 6 local councils were awarded funding under this new line of grants. This year, in El Salvador and Gambia waste management projects were carried out and a shelter project has to be implemented in Lebanon. All of them incorporate a local and global perspective, with actions taking place both within and outside the metropolitan municipalities.
The Education for the Global Community projects managed by NGOs were implemented regionally in 18 metropolitan locations. The sectors involved in the submitted projects are summarised in the following graph:

Lastly, with regard to international cooperation projects managed by NGOs, most of them were carried out regionally in the Eastern Mediterranean, though also in West and East Africa and Mesoamerica, thereby complying with the AMB's priority areas. The following graph summarises the involvement by sector.
