More efficient lighting
The AMB, as the entity responsible for maintaining and managing the Barcelona ring roads, has proposed a project to replace the conventional lighting system with LED fixtures in efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions. This new lighting technology has been piloted along several stretches, with satisfactory results.
Thanks to European co-financing, the former lighting fixtures will be replaced with more efficient technology that can be regulated more efficiently and will help save energy. Furthermore, in efforts to ensure the safety of those who use this infrastructure on a daily basis and lower energy consumption by harnessing technological developments, the lighting systems in 13 tunnels on the Barcelona ring roads will be replaced with LED projectors that adjust the light based on a number of different parameters, such as traffic intensity and weather, in order to ensure maximum efficiency, safety and the smooth functioning of the road at all times.
