Imatge d'un plànol del PDU

The latest issue of the SMART-MR project Newsletter has included a special article on the Metropolitan Urban Master Plan (PDU) of the AMB, showing the good practices that have been carried out in the metropolitan area in relation to urban planning and sustainable mobility policies.

The newsletter presents the conclusions and good practices discussed at the fourth SMART-MR workshop, which was held in Goteborg on 12 and 13 December 2017. The workshop, organized by the Association of Local Authorities of the Goteborg Region and the Municipality of Kungälv, focused on transport-oriented development. Several experts debated about the development of communities in areas with great urban dispersion, and around public transport nodes. The objective was to collect a series of recommendations to improve future projects, in terms of compactness and territorial accessibility.

In this context, the newsletter highlights the work of AMB, with an article on the urban and metropolitan structure for sustainable mobility and habitability in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, where there is a growing dependence between the transport system and the structuring of municipalities.

Drafting the PDU

AMB is currently in the process of writing a new Metropolitan Urban Master Plan (PDU) that will define how the metropolis will have to evolve, including issues related to transport that are increasingly relevant. AMB proposes an integrated vision of mobility and urban planning, based on objectives such as accessibility, integration, efficiency and sustainability.

This experience will serve as a model for the other European metropolitan areas participating in the SMART-MR project, which aims to promote the transition to an urban future of low-carbon emissions, with the objective of achieving sustainable transport and mobility measures in cities and metropolitan areas.
