Imatge de la notícia

On 10th November, the AMB approved the resolution for the awarding of grants to NGOs and metropolitan city councils to finance projects in the fields of international cooperation and education for the global community.

As part of this call, 21 projects were awarded a total of €500,000, 9 of which were related to education for the global community, 8 to international cooperation and 4 to metropolitan councils.
The education for the global community projects managed by NGOs will be implemented in 15 metropolitan municipalities. The submitted projects focus on the fields of waste management, public space, mobility and gender equality, water and human rights, refugees, climate emergency and governance.

As for international cooperation, the projects managed by NGOs will be implemented regionally in the Eastern Mediterranean (3 projects), Africa (2 projects) and Mesoamerica (2 projects), thereby complying with the AMB's priority areas. With regard to sectoral domains, the actions proposed are aimed at refugees, waste, water and sanitation, public space and governance.

One important aspect of this call has been the consolidation of the grants for local councils interested in working concertedly with the AMB International Cooperation Service. In these kinds of projects, the applicant councils and the AMB International Cooperation Service have worked together to develop international cooperation projects. In this specific call, 5 local councils applied for funding under this new line of grants directly or as part of a consortium. This year, the projects deal with waste management in El Salvador and Gambia. All of them include a local and global perspective, with actions within and outside the metropolitan municipalities.
