GeDe-Tun seeks to improve waste management in Bizerte and Kairouan (Tunisia)

A technical mission of the Medcities General Secretariat, together with the AMB Waste Prevention and Management Department, visits Tunisia to work with local authorities of  Bizerte and Kairouan in identifying pilot projects to improve waste management, as one of the first implementations actions of the new GeDe Tun project.

The project aims at improving the municipal staff's technical capabilities, exchanging experiences and expertise in the effective management of waste, and sensitizing citizens on environmental issues.

The GeDe Tun project is funded by the Barcelona City Council, the AMB and the two local counterparts –Bizerte and Kairouan– with a total budget of 146,500 €, and it will run throughout a year.

The mission is carried out in the Medcities framework, which is now celebrating its 25 years of experience in decentralised cooperation for sustainable urban development in the Mediterranean and the consequent improvement of citizens' quality of life.
