| Subject: Governance, International Relations

The BMA presents its metropolitan model and the Municipality of Viladecans speaks about the sustainable using of the land

The European MEANING project, in which the BMA is participating and takes place within the Europe for Citizens program, has coincided with the Smart Metropolia Congress in Gdansk (Poland) last November 13 and 14, 2017. The objective of this congress has been to prepare a discourse about the most important issues related to the development of the metropolitan areas in Europe and the European Urban Agenda.

The BMA has presented the metropolitan territorial model and has participated in the debate on metropolitan synergies, at both local and international level, in order to improve the quality of institutions and the development of urban cooperation.

The Viladecans Municipality gave a presentation on territorial planning at a metropolitan scale. The presentation showed that planning policies and government decisions translate into financial benefits or losses of local governments.

The MEANING project is led by the Metropolitan City of Milano and the partners are: ALDA - European Association for Local Democracy, the Metropolitan City of Bari, the Metropolitan Area of Porto, the City of Gdansk, Grad Zagreb and the Riga City Council. MEANING's objective is to debate different areas of metropolitan management within the framework of the European policies.
