Description

DECARBOMILE is a collaboration initiative led by 31 European partners, funded with 7.9 million euros under the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program. Our goal is to drive change in the realm of green last-mile logistics, for which we have a total budget of 9.6 million euros. We aim to demonstrate the full potential of decarbonized last-mile delivery and promote sustainable practices in the sector.

The DECARBOMILE project aims to develop interoperable and multimodal vehicles for last-mile delivery in urban environments, with a focus on optimizing delivery services, improving air quality, and reducing congestion. It will work on optimizing logistics vehicles, such as cargo bikes, and will test combinations with alternative modes of transportation. These will be evaluated and demonstrated in four living labs and satellite cities.

The project is committed to collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure the success of the solutions, including local workforce, logistics companies, and regional institutions. Economic sustainability of the solutions is sought through innovative business models, adapted governance, creation of local employment, and replication of the process elsewhere.
