Description
BLUEfasma is an Interreg Mediterranean European project led by the Greek University of Patras which counts with the participation of 12 other European partners from the Mediterranean region and Portugal.
The project aims to address the transnational challenge of natural resource depletion, specifically in the key growing sector of fishing and aquaculture in the MED region, where levels of innovation in circular economy have tended to lag behind when compared to other EU regions. In this sense, BLUEfasma seeks to empower innovation capacity of SMEs, maritime clusters/networks, PAs & other key actors in the Mediteranean in order to promote sustainable blue growth in the region.
In order to do so, BLUEfasma will facilitate the transfer of proven innovative existing tools and methods through its online platform, will offer financial support for business investment in circular economy R&I and will facilitate knowledge exchange among partners and transnational cooperation and networking between them.
The MedCities network will be involved in the overall management of the project and will be concretely responsible for the capitalisation of the project's results. For the AMB, as an associated partner, this project will be a useful tool for improving the industrial symbiosis and circular economy with a blue economy approach in the metropolis of Barcelona.
