The AMB and MedCities in the MEDCAT Days

MedCities is one of the promoters of the Mediterranean Cooperation Alliance

During the month of February the Catalan Government organized the MedCat Partners Forum, consitsing of several workshop sessions to reenergize the Mediterranean strategy. These sessions, which were held with a small group of experts, were backed by the participation of the AMB and MedCities who were able to share their vision and experiences on the field of urban policies in the north, south and east of the Mediterranean.

The most important act of these sessions was the international seminar on "The Future of the Mediterranean Region after 2020: Integrating strategies for sustainable development and coordination". Within this framework, The Pyranees-Mediterranean Euroregion , the CIM-CPRM, Latin Arc, MedCities and the Euroregió Adriaticojònica signed the Mediterranean Cooperation Alliance joint declaration to improve long term Mediterranean cooperation and which is based on the determination to consolidate sustainable integrated development with macro-regional and cooperative strategies.

The MedCat Partners Forum took place in the second session, where the Secretary General of MedCities participated in a round table discussion to explain the group's position in terms of the European territorial cooperation funds in the 2012-2017 budget. Additionally, MedCities presented the results of Madre project on urban agriculture, that involved significant participation from the technical service of the AMB.
