Metropolitan town councils prepare the subjects on land use planning and sustainability

Image of the activity

The last 2nd March took place the second session that gathered together the metropolitan town councils in order to prepare the upcoming Post-Habitat III International Congress. They focused on land use planning and sustainability, following the first meeting, whose subjects where social cohesion, economic development and competitiveness.

The town councils are working at the front line to resolve structure-like social problems. They currently find themselves dealing with more difficulties, yet less resources. It is important to consider the big picture and the cooperation between the municipalities, taking advantage of their synergies.

The town councils have shared good practices that are already being implemented, such as citizen participation on Badalona, the interventions on the riverbed in Sant Andreu de la Barca or the transformation of the road in Pallejà Avenue, which is expected to encourage walking as a transportation.
