Two projects co-led by the AMB receive subsidies from Metropolis

This past November, the Metropolis network, as part of its 2021-2023 call for pilot projects, awarded subsidies to the projects "Mobility in Urban Areas of Africa: Towards Better Indicators and a Better Metropolitan Governance" and "Dialogue Between Metropolitan Areas on Green Infrastructure: Overcoming Challenges and Maximising Benefits", both co-led by the AMB.

Urban mobility in African cities

"Mobility in Urban Areas of Africa: Towards Better Indicators and a Better Metropolitan Governance" will have a duration of two and a half years and aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and practices surrounding urban mobility and its governance between participating members: the metropolitan areas of Gauteng (South Africa), Dakar (Senegal), Maputo (Mozambique) and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

The objective is to contribute to the development, implementation and analysis of inclusive, sustainable and safe mobility strategies, as well as exchange practical experiences and knowledge on the governance of metropolitan transport.

Green infrastructure in Latin America

The second project, "Dialogue Between Metropolitan Areas on Green Infrastructure: Overcoming Challenges and Maximising Benefits", will also have a duration of two and a half years and involves sharing experiences and strengthening local capacities in the planning and implementation of green infrastructure as a nature-based solution that offers numerous benefits for human well-being and metropolitan area resilience, addressing challenges and possible solutions between Mexico City, the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

Through this project, the member metropolises will seek to exchange experiences and strengthen their technical capacities with a view to effectively implement green infrastructure and maximise its benefits for the natural surroundings and human well-being. The project will focus on the following areas: ecological connectivity, urban biodiversity and climate change resilience.
