| Subject: International Relations
A meeting of the Executive Committee of this network is being held in Marseille
The Executive Committee is the political management body for the MedCities network. It is comprised of eight cities: Sfax (Tunisia), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Larnaca (Cyprus), Tripoli (Libya), Izmir (Turkey), Marseille (France), the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and Tetuan (Morocco), which holds the chair.
During the committee meeting, there was monitoring of the actions and activities carried out by the network since December 2015. This is a decisive time for MedCities, as it is taking the last steps to become a legally registered association.
The strategic move for the adhesion of cities from north of the Mediterranean and the Adriatic was also approved, as decided in the previous General Assembly in Dubrovnik. In this regard, the cities that were approved to join the network were Sarajevo (Bosnia), Jerash (Jordan), M'saken, Tataouine and Menzel Bourguiba (Tunisia), a decision that will be ratified by the General Assembly in 2016. Thus, by year end MedCities will grow to having 47 members from 15 Mediterranean countries.
Other business handled was the follow-up on the 2016 budget, the presentation of the project on internal regulations and the strategy to create and develop new projects in the framework of European programmes. The date of the 2016 General Assembly was also approved, which will be held in Tetuan (Morocco) on 1 and 2 December 2016, along with holding a seminar on city management and the implementation of strategic projects.
