The network participates in the event MedCOP Climate, generating discussion on sustainable urban renewal

On 18 and 19 July, state and non-governmental entities in the Mediterranean met in Tangiers to take part in the MedCOP Climate Forum. The aim was to find synergies to preserve the area and generate proposals so that the  22nd World Climate Conference (COP 22), which will be held in Marrakesh from 7 to 18 November, may arrive at powerful and feasible environmental commitments to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Medcities participated in the second day of MedCOP by organizing a discussion on "Urban transformation to face climate challenges", during which it presented the view point of the Mediterranean Cities. Besides, it has presented the network at the seminar on financing projects on clomate change for cities in Morocco and Tunisia, organised by the Global Fund for Cities and Development (FMDV) and the German cooperation (GIZ).

The MedCop Climate Forum, organized together with AVITEM, allowed participants to address the role of local governments and the challenges faced when implementing policies to resist the effects of climate change and to design sustainable regional projects.
