The Marrakech-Safi region and the AMB start their cooperation in metropolitan services

During the visit to Catalonia of representatives from the Marrakech-Safi region, the vice-president of the AMB International and Cooperation Area, Alfred Bosch, met in Barcelona with the first vice-president of the Moroccan region, Samir Goudar, and Vice-presidents Milouda Hazeb and Moulay Abdelaziz Gaouji to handle possible fields for joint cooperation.

The delegation from the Regional Presidency of Marrakech was particularly interested in the metropolitan services' management model for water, waste and public transport, which are the competence of the AMB. With regard to the AMB, it showed its predisposition to participate in the Catalonia-Marrakech Cooperation Committee, which shall be established soon, and to provide technical support in the areas in which it works, such as city planning, water management, waste management, mobility and public transport.

Moreover, Alfred Bosch invited the city of Marrakech, via its representatives, to become members of Medcities,  the network of Mediterranean cities that works for sustainable urban development and on which the AMB holds the post of Secretariat General.

The political delegation of Marrakech-Safi was invited by the Catalan Development Cooperation Agency and visited different Catalan institutions to deepen its knowledge and seek synergies and collaboration areas.
