The Plan sets the AMB international strategy
The Internationalization Plan for the Barcelona Metropolitan Area 2021-2025 was presented on Tuesday, December 14, after being approved unanimously by the Metropolitan Council on July 27, 2021. The Plan sets the institution international strategy for the next 5 years in line with the Metropolitan Action Plan 2019-2023 mandate.
The document is one of the first internationalization plans approved by metropolitan entity at international level and aims to establish the international strategy for the entire institution, promoting the metropolitan dimension at European and international level, gathering funds for strategic projects and facilitating cooperation, innovation and knowledge transfer.
Its elaboration began in 2020 through a participatory process involving the main metropolitan stakeholders: The city councils, the principal economic and social actors and other strategic national and international AMB partners.
More than thirty personalities representing different metropolitan public and private institutions attended the event. The Plan was presented by the Vice-president of International Relations and Cooperation, Ernest Maragall i Mira, and by the Head of International Relations, Xavier Tiana i Casablancas. In addition, Ramon Gras Alomà, from the consulting firm Aretian (Boston, USA), opened the session presenting his research on the science of cities serving urban innovation.
