On 21st April, the kick-off meeting for the CAMELOT Project (Cities and Metropolis in Europe Labouring Onward Together), part of the Europe for Citizens Programme, was held online and featured all project members. As part of this project, eight European metropolises, among them the AMB, will work to make funds from the European cohesion policy available to citizens, in efforts to promote their active participation and foster a sense of inclusion in and proximity to Europe.

The project is led by the Metropolitan City of Milan and includes, as partners, the metropolises of Porto, Stuttgart, Zagreb, Bari, Gdansk, Craiova and the AMB, which will take part in it through its Area for International Relations and Cooperation. During a period of 24 months, nine international events will be organised to actively engage citizens and other metropolitan actors.

As part of these international events, the AMB will present its experience managing European funds, such as the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), and in other projects co-financed by the European Union, such as the URBACT Programme's RiConnect Project, led by the AMB to enhance metropolitan mobility infrastructure. It will also discuss its experience within the European Metropolitan Authorities (EMA) network, a subject area that is strongly aligned with the project's objectives. Other metropolitan municipalities will also be invited to share their experience managing structural funds.

The project's total budget is €148,680, of which the AMB will receive €17,640.
