Metropolis meets in Buenos Aires

The AMB presented its activities relating to urban resilience

Under the title ‘Living in the City', Metropolis held its annual meeting in Buenos Aires between 18 and 21 May. During this meeting, a number of seminars on urban policies were held, at which the AMB presented its experience in the field of resilience within the process of preparing the new Urban master plan.

In parallel with the seminars, a meeting of the Metropolis Board of Directors was held during which decisions were taken on the report of activities, budget, Metropolis's activities in regard to preparatory work for the global urban agenda (millennium development goals, climate change Habitat III, basic services and social inclusion) and incorporation of the cities of San Salvador and Ramallah. The meetings were attended by mayors and senior political representatives from Berlin, Île-de-France, Montevideo, Porto Alegre, Montreal, Johannesburg, Buenos Aires, Rosario and Metropolitan Area of Santiago de Chile, among others.

During the meeting of the Board of Directors, approval was given to Felip Roca's appointment as the new secretary general; he replaces Alain Le Saux from September 2015. A meeting of the Global Fund for Cities Development (FMDV) was also held; the AMB currently is the vice-chair. During this meeting, a report of implemented activities was presented along with the programme of work for 2015-2016.
