The General Secretariat of  MedCities, which holds the AMB, has organized two training workshops on funding opportunities of the ENI-CBC-MED 2014-2020 Programme, in Tunisia and Lebanon, to benefit from all the options that will be launched in the forthcoming months and to continue improving cooperation among Mediterranean cities of its network through the definition of new projects.

A representative of the AMB attended both trainings and explained the priorities of the network and the support MedCities would be able to provide to member cities interested in participating in future project calls.

The training in Tunisia was held in Sousse, on September 21st, and was organized by the KTC of Sfax, the Knowledge Transfer Centre of MedCities for the Maghreb subregion.

Attended by over 20 people from eleven cities of the network in Tunisia, some officers of local administrations and from international cooperation and financial areas were part of the audience.

The workshop in Lebanon was held on October 4th in Tripoli, organized by the KTC of Al-Fayhaa, the Knowledge Transfer Centre of MedCities for the Mashreq subregion. Attended by over 50 people, including officers and political representatives of Lebanon municipalities, MedCities members and the Office of Lebanese Municipalities (Cités Unies Liban / Bureau Technique des Villes Libanaises) and representatives of bodies, institutions and local Lebanese organisations.

Both training sessions have counted on the participation of programme experts that have introduced the ENI Mediterranean Basin Programme –and ENI Italy-Tunisia in the training of Susa- focusing on the goals and priorities of the programme, opportunities for municipalities as well as administrative and management issues to be considered.

The evaluation has been very positive and has made clear the need to continue working together for the training of officers in the drafting and presentation of European projects. At the end of the workshops, MedCities members have enjoyed a meeting place to share ideas that could be presented in future calls.
