Call for projects by municipal councils and NGOs

It is now possible to consult procedure for applying for and receiving financial grants and support in the field of international cooperation and education for global citizens. There are two calls—one for NGOs and another to metropolitan municipal councils.

An innovative aspect included in the call for metropolitan municipal councils is the area of coordinated cooperation projects, based on presenting proposals made with the advice of AMB's technical cooperation team.

The period for submitting applications for the call begins on 27 June, and the deadline for submissions is 24 July.

The calls are aimed at projects beginning in 2018 and which end on 31 July 2019 at the latest, and which fall within the strategic lines and principles defined in AMB's current International Development Cooperation Master Plan.

The grants requested by municipalities and organisations will amount to a maximum of €300,000: €150,000 for each category (€90,000 in 2018 and €60,000 in 2019).

Themed areas

In the themed areas of action, the projects must be linked to metropolitan governance, territorial planning and mobility, public space, environmental sustainability, and water and waste management. Furthermore, a focus on human rights, empowerment and equality between women and men, democratic governance and governability, environmental sustainability, diversity and the culture of non-violence and peace are also called for as broad-based objectives.

As with the 2016 calls, the Cooperation Service is anticipating a significant volume of projects supporting refugees and displaced people, in view of the current extraordinary circumstances in the Mediterranean, and which is being made a priority in the countries that are welcoming refugees.
