The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) has received many messages of support in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Catalonia

The AMB International Relations and Cooperation Area has received a large number of messages of condolence and support from the institutions and public authorities with which the AMB has international collaboration and partnership agreements in the wake of the attacks perpetrated in Barcelona and Cambrils on 17 August.

Messages of support have been received from the Mayor of Managua (Nicaragua), the Trinational Community of Río Lempa (MTFRL) and the Council of Mayors of the San Salvador Metropolitan Area (COAMSS) and its Planning Office (OPAMSS), as well as several members of the international network of metropolitan areas, Metropolis.

The AMB's Vice-President for International Relations and Cooperation, Alfred Bosch, has replied to these messages on behalf of the AMB, thanking them for their kindness and highlighting ‘the inner strength of our city and its people, and the capacity and professionalism of the public sector workers in Catalonia, including the law enforcement forces, healthcare personnel, firefighters and civil protection.'

The Vice-President also sent letters of condolence to the Barcelona consulates of countries whose nationals were victims of the attacks: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and the United States.
